The Horned God

Witches who worship a horned deity are often incorrectly deemed to be in league with Satan.

Horned or Antlered Gods have been worshipped in most parts of world. The museum displays various images of this deity from early woodcuts and paintings to altar pieces used by modern witches and magicians. Some of the names and guises he assumes are well known including:- Herne (The Hunter), Baphomet, Pan, Cernunnos, Azazel, Gwynn, Lucifer, Pouck, Puck, Robin Goodfellow and Seirim.

In ritual the high priest of a coven will sometimes wear an antlered mask and take on the image of 'The Horned One'.

Christianity transformed the Horned God into its Devil with evil associations.

Modern Wiccans do not believe that the devil exists, they cannot therefore worship him!
